What counts as a critical breakdown
Anything that stops you treating patients today. The ones we prioritise:
-
No suction or weak suction across the whole practice. Usually the suction motor, a tripped breaker or a blocked amalgam separator.
-
No air, or chairs dropping out of sequence. Compressor fault, dryer fault or a leak taking the pressure below what the chairs need.
- Dental chair will not move, will not power up, or is stuck with a patient in it.
-
Steriliser failing cycles or showing a fault code when you have no backup unit and instruments to turn over.
- Water leaking from the chair, cuspidor or plant room.
-
X-ray or OPG will not expose and you have a full book of diagnostic appointments.
A single handpiece, one slow chair or an intermittent fault is not an emergency. Book it as a normal job and we will fit it in quickly; it keeps the urgent slots free for the practice that is actually stopped.
Before you call: the 60-second checks
About one call in five is resolved on the phone. These are the things we will ask you to check first, so do them before you ring:
-
Is it one chair or every chair? If everything is affected, the problem is in the plant room (compressor, suction, water or power), not the chairs.
-
Is the plant room powered? Look for a tripped breaker on the switchboard and check the isolator switches on the compressor and suction unit.
-
Is the main water valve open and the air pressure reading normal? Most compressors should sit between about 5.5 and 7.5 bar on the gauge.
-
Has anything changed in the last 24 hours? A cleaner, a power outage, a new piece of software, a tradesperson in the ceiling.
-
What exactly does the display say? Photograph the error code or message before you clear it.
Our help guides walk through the most common faults step by step: chair suddenly stopped moving, weak suction, water leaking from the dentist element and turbine losing power.
What happens when you call
You speak to a technician. Tell us the brand and model, what it is doing, what the display says and what you have already checked. If it can be fixed over the phone, we will walk you through it and there is no charge. If it needs a visit, we tell you when we can be there and what it is likely to involve, so you can decide whether to move patients or wait. For critical breakdowns in Sydney metro we aim to have a technician on site the same business day. For Newcastle, Wollongong, the Central Coast, regional NSW and the ACT we schedule the first available slot and tell you plainly how long that is.
What we bring
Our vans carry the parts that fail most often on Dentsply Sirona, Planmeca and A-dec chairs, Cattani and Dürr suction and compressor units, and MELAG and Dentsply Sirona sterilisers: solenoid valves, foot-control and handpiece tubing, suction motor brushes and carbon vanes, compressor filters and dryer cartridges, door seals and water-quality sensors. Most emergency callouts are fixed on the first visit. When a part has to be ordered, we will usually leave the unit running in a reduced mode or lend you a loan unit where we can, and come back to finish.
Areas we cover
We are based in Carlingford and cover all of Sydney metro, from the CBD and Eastern Suburbs to Parramatta, the Hills, the Northern Beaches, Sutherland Shire, Penrith and the Macarthur region. Beyond Sydney we service the Central Coast, Newcastle and the Hunter, Wollongong and the Illawarra, regional NSW and Canberra and the ACT.
Frequently asked questions
Do you charge extra for emergency callouts?
Not for a same-day visit in business hours. You pay the standard callout and labour rate plus any parts. Equipment Care Plan customers get priority scheduling and discounted labour on breakdowns.
Can you come after hours or on weekends?
Call and ask. We can sometimes arrange it for a practice that is completely stopped, and we will tell you up front what it costs.
Can you fix equipment you did not install?
Yes. We work on most brands of dental chair, suction, compressor, steriliser and imaging equipment regardless of who installed them or who serviced them last.
How do I stop this happening again?
Most of the breakdowns we attend show up in an annual service weeks or months before they stop the practice. An Equipment Care Plan puts the servicing on a schedule and gives you priority when something does fail.
